Day 19 - Calgary

For this day, I will be doing something a little different and posting comparison photos. The Last of Us has been one of our favorite shows over the past few years, so we used our time in Calgary to check out some of the sites from this show. It turns out a lot of the show was filmed in and around this city! To stick with this theming, I will start off with some of the other places we visited on this trip that happened to be utilized in The Last of Us as well!

Day 18 - Jasper National Park and Banff National Park

After over a week of fun in the Canadian Rockies, today is the day we finally leave the overwhelming beauty of this place and begin our journey home. Of course, we have a lot of fun stops along the way back, today being no exception. In order to get to Calgary, we took the same Icefields Parkway that led us to Jasper in the first place. Today, we stopped at a bunch of the landmarks we'd missed around Jasper and along the parkway. Man, some of these places were really, really packed!

We also drove by many areas we've recently made memories at, an immediate reflection of the nostalgia that would one day come to be. It was like a Greatest Hits tour. At the end of it all, we found Calgary, a big, bright city nestled in the foreground of mountainous horizons.

Day 17 - Jasper National Park

Happy anniversary to us! We've been married for four great years, and we celebrated by booking a two-night stay at the Jasper Inn & Suites. Our room was wonderful, providing a great place to relax and unwind after all the running around we'd been doing.

Besides relaxing, we went on a boat tour at Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park. It was a ton of fun and a great learning experience. After admiring so many lakes from the shore, we finally went on one! The views it brought, especially of Spirit Island at the end of the lake, were spectacular.

After the tour, we hiked around Maligne Canyon a bit. Then we went back to our hotel and had a nice, fancy dinner.
