Day 3 - Detroit, Michigan

Another ballgame today. We didn’t do much in Detroit, but we did see the Tigers vs. the Oakland Athletics. We have to say, Comerica Park was one of our favorite ballparks yet. A modern stadium, it was Citizens Bank Park-esque, with a wide concourse and sweeping views of the city. Some features include a food court, a merry-go-round, and a Ferris wheel. Oh, and superb ice cream.

The Athletics ended up taking this one by coming from behind in dramatic fashion, overcoming a 4 – 1 deficit by scoring 3 runs in the eighth and 1 in the ninth. It was somewhat of a historic game, as the Athletics starter Edwin Jackson tied the MLB record for playing for the most MLB team in a career: 13. He pitched really well. Also, the A’s kept their away homerun streak alive when Piscotty hit one in the 5th inning, extending the streak to 26 games (spoiler: the streak would end two days later).

The rest of the day was spent driving, as we ended up in Michigan City en route to Effigy Mounds National Monument.

Here are some pics from the day:

  1. ROAR!!! Very cool park. Don't see the sea turtle? Does that mean I'm passive or aggressive?
