Phew. What a day. Yes, you guessed it. We initially only had Scotts Bluff planned for today, but we decided to explore a few more parks to earn some points. And hey, you only live once.
Minuteman Missile National Historic Site is home to two defunct missile sites created during the Cold War. Here, we watched an informative video and toured their museum. Ask us anything about the Cold War, and now we have all the answers! ... (okay, not all of them).
Today marked our second trip to Badlands National Park, and it’s no less impressive the second time. It was on the way to our next destination, so it was impossible not to drive through! We took in the views again and they seemed just as impossible as before. Even better, it was much cooler than last time—only 90 degrees instead of 100!
Next up was Agate Fossil Beds National Monument. This was also on our way to our final destination, Scotts Bluff, but to be honest, we didn't spend much time here. We did drive in to take in some views, and it does seem like an interesting place to explore further. Very remote.
Our number one goal for the day was to relax and take in the sunset at Scotts Bluff National Monument, and that's exactly what we were able to do. I cannot begin to describe this moment. All I can say is that it seemed important. Maybe pictures will do it justice, but I doubt it.
