Day 12 - Hamilton Pool and Marathon, TX

Before we made it to Marathon, we stopped by Hamilton Pool, a natural swimming hole just outside of Austin. It was absolutely beautiful! The water was freezing, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a swim.

Then, we ventured to Marathon, TX, the gateway to Big Bend National Park. We stopped here to camp in preparation for our upcoming overnight backpack through the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend. It turned out to be a really fascinating place. The campground at Marathon Motel featured unique decor. At night, there was not a cloud in the sky. Given the lack of light pollution in this area, the stargazing was something else. We wish we had the camera to capture it.
