Day 15 - White Sands National Monument

We were so beat up from backpacking that we didn't set alarms and decided to skip Carlsbad Caverns. This was a tough decision, and we definitely have to get there someday! Unfortunately their elevators were broken, and we didn't know if we had the time (or energy!) to do another steep hike.

So, we relaxed in the morning, and then we drove to White Sands National Monument in New Mexico (finally out of Texas!). Boy, what an interesting place! It was absolutely silent. And beautiful. And hot. Very hot. But the sand was cool on our feet and made the sun tolerable.

The sunlight was so blinding that we couldn't see how the pictures would turn out. Of course, light helps pictures, and I think they look pretty great!
