Day 20 - Great Sand Dunes and Black Canyon of the Gunnison

We originally intended to hike up a sand dune, but they are much taller than they look on Google images. Also, it was extremely cold and windy. So, instead, we drove up to an overlook to get a more expansive view of the dunes.

Later, we drove further west to Black Canyon of the Gunnison, one of the youngest (if not the youngest) national parks. It was first designated a national park in 1999. I don't know what took so long - this place is magnificent.

Morning. Much clearer contrast between mountains and sand dunes here

  1. PaRap, want to be my running mate? That look will appeal to the urban punks and the country folks, alike. Look at that landscape.... believe in God or Gunnison.
