Day 16 - Channel Islands

The tent fan worked great! It gave us a slight breeze while masking the sounds of island foxes running around outside our tent. We slept great and woke up when the heat in the tent became unbearable. We made oatmeal and coffee for breakfast and enjoyed our campsite while we could, since we had to check out at 11:00. Our boat back to the mainland of California wasn't until 5:00 PM, so we had the rest of the day to explore. After we broke down camp, we stored our gear by the dock and ventured up the cliffs surrounding the shoreline. We hiked the Cavern Point Trail to get beautiful views of the ocean, as well as of the island. It was a hot day, but the hike was well worth it. See for yourself below!

After hiking, we dipped our feet in the water to cool off a bit. We still had time to kill, so we ate some snacks and played some more Love Letter in a nice shady spot to pass some time. Unfortunately for me, Greg won this round. Our boat back was a little late, but we grabbed air conditioned seats inside and some cold root beers and relaxed during our ride back. We were exhausted and starving by the time we got to our hotel, so after checking in for the night, we went for some steaks at Outback. It is safe to say we slept like babies.
