Kings Island! This was an incredible park. We have been to its bigger sister, Cedar Point, and that was an absolute blast. So we were definitely excited to see what Kings Island had to bring. And it did not disappoint! Coaster after coaster – too many, in fact, for us to ride them all. Our old, brittle bones can only handle so much. So, we tried to hit the highlights and take our time to walk around and enjoy the park as a whole. We got there bright and early and had no problem accomplishing our to-do list.
By far the best experience of the day was riding The Beast at night. For those who don’t know (including us until after we rode it), The Beast is the longest wooden rollercoaster in the world. It was built in 1979 and is frequently under maintenance in order to keep it running. It was down a few times throughout the day, but it came back JUST before park closing, and so we were able to ride it after sundown. As it plummets into the thick, surrounding woods, the ride is entirely unlit, leaving you twisting through the pitch black with no way to predict your next move. Exhilarating. I really loved it and would likely rank it among my top 10 rides in the world.
After the park, we CRASHED. Good thing, because we had another long drive ahead!
